About Our Crew and Standards
We're six ESA-licensed electricians who do one thing well: residential lighting. We've been cutting potlights into GTA ceilings since 2003, from Kingsway plaster to Kleinburg coffers, and we're still small enough that the person who measures your ceiling is the person who wires it.
How We Got Here
Potlight Installation Toronto was founded in 2003 by Marek Kowalczyk, an ESA-licensed master electrician who came to Ontario from Poland in 1998. The first jobs were retrofits in older Etobicoke and North York homes, pulling out buzzing drop-ceiling fluorescents and replacing them with recessed lights.
Word spread street by street. By 2010 the business had grown to a three-person crew working on new construction with Vaughan and Markham builders. Smart lighting came next, and exterior soffit work followed in 2020 when so many families were renovating at home.
Today we're a six-person crew based in Vaughan. We haven't grown into a big company with sales reps and subcontractors, and that's on purpose. It's how we keep the same installer on your job from the first visit to the warranty follow-up.

Started as a one-person operation doing potlight retrofits in older Etobicoke and North York homes, mostly swapping out drop-ceiling fluorescents.

Grew to a three-person crew doing new-construction work with Vaughan and Markham general contractors.

Added smart lighting integration with Lutron and Philips Hue as more clients wanted app and voice control.

Every removed fixture gets patched before we leave. Most contractors walk away from the holes. We don't, and it's written into your quote.

You'll see every fixture placed on a scaled drawing before anyone drills. No guessing, no surprise spacing, no shadow over the sink.
Fixed written quote
The number on the quote is the number you pay. If we find something once the ceiling's open, we talk before we touch it. No scope creep.
Same installer start to finish
The electrician who measures your ceiling is the one who wires it, walks you through the dimmers and handles any warranty follow-up.
ESA-licensed, WSIB covered
Every installer holds an ESA 309A licence or works as an apprentice under a licensed journeyperson, with WSIB and a $2M Northbridge Insurance policy.
Trade-grade fixtures
We buy from Nedco, Robertson Electric, Sonepar and Home Depot Pro, and wire Lutron and Leviton dimmers matched to the LED driver.
Credentials You Can Check
Potlight wiring is electrical work under the Ontario Electrical Safety Code. We're registered with the Electrical Safety Authority as a contractor and file the ESA notification on every job. If your condo board or insurer wants paperwork, we'll send it before day one.

Free In-Home Consultation
An installer walks each room with you, talks through your lighting goals, measures ceiling access and checks panel capacity. It takes 45 to 60 minutes.

Written Quote with Layout
Within 24 to 48 hours you'll get itemized labour, fixtures, wiring, a drywall patching allowance and a drawn-to-scale layout of every fixture.

Material Sourcing
We source fixtures from Nedco, Robertson Electric, Sonepar and Home Depot Pro. Kitchen projects usually get scheduled within one to two weeks.

Installation Day
The crew arrives with drop cloths, cutting tools and pre-ordered fixtures. Kitchens take 4 to 6 hours and basements 1 to 2 days. Floors are protected and dust is cleaned up.

Walkthrough and Warranty Paperwork
We test every switch and dimmer with you, then go over the fixture warranty and our written workmanship warranty.
