Where Our Company Started
The company started in Etobicoke in 2003, swapping drop-ceiling fluorescents in older homes. Kingsway Park alone has 665 homes built between 1924 and 1947, mixed with 1940s and 1950s bungalows, and their plaster ceilings still make up much of our work.
Plaster from that era cracks under a fast cut, and materials from before 1990 may contain asbestos. We test where needed, cut slowly with dust shrouds and patch as we go on every LED potlight retrofit.
Newer custom homes on The Kingsway often have coffered ceilings, while Mimico and Long Branch mix post-war semis with lakeside townhomes where we use damp-rated fixtures in basements and bathrooms.

The Kingsway has lots of 1950s and 1960s bungalows with original plaster, cove molding and old fluorescent kitchen fixtures. We cut slowly with dust-controlled hole saws, patch as we go and protect the trim, just like we did for Elena R.'s living room.
Newer Kingsway custom homes often have coffered ceilings in the dining and family rooms, which we light with small 3-inch and 4-inch fixtures centred in each panel.
Mimico and Long Branch have a mix of post-war bungalows, semis and newer lakeside townhomes. Textured ceilings from the 1960s to 1980s get an asbestos test before we cut.
Seasonal Timing Notes
Kingsway living room and main floor retrofits are busiest in late fall and winter, when dark corners in older bungalows are most noticeable. Elena R. called us for exactly that reason.
Lakeside homes in Mimico and Long Branch deal with extra summer humidity, so we're careful to use damp-rated fixtures in basements and bathrooms. Soffit lighting runs April through October.
